Iran: Four imprisoned Christians released on bail

On 24 June, 2016, an engagement ceremony in Iran was raided by security agents. While 10 people were initially arrested, all but four were released – three Christians from Azerbaijan and an Iranian Christian.

Relatives and friends of the four Christians are delighted to report that they have all been released from prison on bail, and the Azerbaijanis were able to travel back home last week.

The four men were kept in solitary confinement for two months and interrogated. They were refused access to consular assistance or legal counsel during the initial period of their detention. In September they were transferred out of solitary confinement to shared cells in Evin Prison. They face charges of engaging in missionary activity and propaganda against the regime, but it is hoped that they will be acquitted of these charges.

Praise the Lord for their initial release! Let’s join them in praying for a positive outcome and quick resolution of this case.
Iran is ranked #9 on Open Doors’ 2016 World Watch List.

Thank you for praying!
