From the heart
Dear partner and friend
Reading about the reality faced by our family of faith in India immediately reminds me of the scripture in Paul’s letter to the Corinthians: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Cor 4:8-9).
Our family in India is currently facing a situation like the early Church. They endure false charges, imprisonment, violence and harassment. This is due to radical nationalism driven by Hindu extremists and their Hindutva ideology. This leaves no room for freedom of religion and belief. As a result, they often target church leaders, increasing the vulnerability of their church members and disrupting discipling. This does the most damage.
That is why this year’s election outcome in India will have a significant influence on deepening or lessening the hostility towards Christians in the country. And why reading about Christians like Laxman, who stand steadfast in the face of persecution, is inspirational.
Join me in prayer that the Lord will preserve the lives of our family in India, and as Paul also wrote, they will not lose heart, fixing their eyes on what is unseen so that the grace may reach more and more people so that thanksgiving may overflow to the glory of God.
Closer to home, I’m so grateful for your interest, support and prayers. If you know anyone who would also have an interest in hearing more about the vulnerability and victory of our family of faith following Jesus in dangerous places, ask them to sign up for our regular email or WhatsApp communication.
Peace
