From the heart

Dear partner and friend

For more than 30 years, Open Doors has conducted in-depth research on the persecution of followers of Jesus. Our latest World Watch List shows an increase in persecution, which is no surprise as believers face increasing hostility for their faith.

In 2025, the global ministry will reflect on 70 years of service since Brother Andrew was led to find the hidden Church in communist countries and come alongside these believers.

Today persecution remains a persistent reality that is increasing steadily, with the number of believers impacted and the intensity growing.

Now, you are invited to be a part of the significant purpose of enabling the persecuted Church to be present, praying and persevering in dangerous places. In this partnership, there is much to be aware of, pray for, speak out about, and give towards.

Much needs to be done to ensure that every follower of Jesus across our continent is aware of the persecuted Church and knows how to take action.

Join us as we raise awareness of what is happening to Christians in sub-Saharan Africa. Save the date for Persecution Sunday on 15 June 2025, which will focus on the persecuted Church in sub-Saharan Africa. This will be followed by the Arise Africa Year of Prayer.

As you engage with the reality of persecution and the steadfastness of the persecuted Church, may you again see Jesus and His kingdom as the precious pearl tobe sought after at any cost. He is worthy of our allegiance and our lives.

Peace

Lynette Leibach

Executive director of Open Doors Southern Africa
