Youth in Niger given Bibles in their heart language

The Word of God is changing lives across the world!

Even in places like Niger, where it’s difficult to find a Bible in a bookshop.

In Niger, Muslims own most of the bookshops, and they consider it forbidden for a Muslim to sell Bibles. You could find Bibles in a handful of bookshops belonging to Christians, but most Christians can’t afford to buy one. This scarcity of Bibles in Niger affects Christian youth, as many can’t afford to own a Bible. It’s simply too expensive.

Even if they could afford it, many new converts from Muslim backgrounds are prevented by their families from reading the Bible. This, combined with the lack of financial means to purchase one, creates a challenging situation for many Christians across the country.

Yet the faithful giving and prayers of our supporters have helped bring Bibles to 150 young people in the country, keeping them strong in their faith. Open Doors (through local church partners) was able to give them each a Bible of their own. The Bibles were written in Hausa and French, two of the most common languages in the region.

“Thank you very much for these Bibles that you distributed to us. Whenever the preacher gives verses to read during the sermon in the church, because I didn’t have a Bible to read, I just had to listen when someone else was reading.

“Now, by the grace of God, I have my own copy of the Holy Bible. I can read it in the church, at home, while working, and even while travelling. Thank you very much, brothers and sisters, for this support. God bless this ministry and those who have given their money to serve persecuted believers,” said Salisu, one of the happy recipients.

You can change more lives, like Salisu’s, today.

Would you consider giving a Bible and the tools to understand it for only a R180? It is not just a gift – it is bread for life.

You can also support our brothers and sisters across sub-Saharan Africa by joining the Arise Africa Bible Challenge on YouVersion. Each day, you’ll read Scripture, reflect on stories of bold faith, and pray for those facing opposition.

Let’s continue to bring the Word of God to others and treasure it daily in our hearts.
