If you escaped the darkest place on earth…
what would make you go back?
This is the question many believers on this year’s World Watch List have to answer for themselves.
They live in countries where persecution of Christians is severe.
But they feel God telling them to go back to share the Gospel.
Would you dare to share the Gospel knowing what it could cost you? Loved ones, belonging, your life?
In some of the darkest places to be a Christian, believers are boldly risking all to share the Gospel.
Our Dare to Share campaign is our way of standing with these believers in the top 10 World Watch List countries, so they can live out John 1:4:
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
When believers dare, God can do the impossible.
Will you help strengthen Christians who, despite fear, dare to share Jesus in the darkest places?
What’s the problem?
Persecution is a huge issue and continues to grow. More than 380 million Christians face high levels of persecution and discrimination for their faith.
In Open Doors’ World Watch List, top 50 countries alone, 310 million Christians face very high or extreme levels of persecution and discrimination for their faith. Most of the increase in persecution in these countries is driven by violence. In some countries, it’s driven by tightly controlled autocratic states or countries that are unstable due to a weak government or civil war.
Persecution has increased because of
- LACK OF PROTECTION: Many governments do not and cannot and do not want to protect the Christians in their country for political and/or religious and/or populistic reasons. This goes hand in hand with
- IMPUNITY for the persecutors/perpetrators in many countries, which again leads to more persecution of Christians.
- INDIFFERENCE of those political actors (in the West) who could do more but don’t.
Our brothers and sisters in these countries need our prayers, support, and voices so that the light of Christ can continue to shine in the darkness.
