Afghanistan: “God has not forgotten us.”
The recent crisis in Afghanistan has brough the world’s attention to the dangers of following Jesus under extremist Islam. But Afghanistan has been high on the Open Doors World Watch List for many years, currently the country with the second highest levels of persecution.
The risks for our brothers and sisters have increased. The country’s new rulers are carrying out random house searches and they are actively looking for anyone who is connected with the West or with Christianity. Most Christians choose to stay, others try to cross the border, just like many Muslims.
Our brothers and sisters facing discrimination, oppression, violent persecution need our long-term prayers and support.
On the day that Kabul fell, a baby girl was born, and for the Church it was a sign that God has not forgotten them.
