Pastor Josiah, his two sons and his daughter were violently kidnapped by militants targeting Christian communities in northern Nigeria.

His wife was killed in their home during the attack. Later, the kidnappers sent his sons to collect ransom money for their release, but they never returned.

When he and his daughter were finally released, they came home carrying unimaginable grief and trauma, as that day they also found out that the kidnappers had killed his sons when they sent them for the money.

“I felt like the world was crumbling in on me, as if I was alone with this pain. I kept thinking, ‘Why did this all happen to me?’”

And yet, this is not where the story ends.

THE JOURNEY OF HEALING

We came alongside Pastor Josiah, supporting him through intensive trauma counselling to help him process his deep pain and begin to heal.

“When I came here, the anger reduced, my bitterness reduced, and I’ve received freedom. I realised that forgiveness is almost impossible without God – if not for the love of God and the Holy Spirit ministering to you, you can’t forgive… But forgiveness has helped me to heal.”
