Stand with Them

Their place of worship is wherever they can gather safely, but even that isn’t without risk…

This is the hidden world of the Underground Church.

For millions of Christians around the world, gathering to worship isn’t as simple as walking into a church on a Sunday. It means meeting in homes, online, or other hidden places, knowing they could lose their freedom, their families, or their belongings.

COVID gave many of us a glimpse into what it feels like when we can’t gather freely.

We met in smaller groups.

We worshipped online.

Being together became precious.

Through that season, we adjusted, adapted and longed for the day when we could gather again freely.

“Let us not give up meeting together…” – Hebrews 10:25

For the Underground Church, that day never comes. Life under restriction is their daily reality.

But even behind closed doors, their faith cannot be silenced. The Lord is at work, and His Kingdom is growing, even underground and under pressure…

Stories of Faith

Pastor Khoun*, Laos

“I told them that I had done nothing wrong. Jesus healed me when I was in sickness and pain; hence, I do not want to practice my old customs or beliefs anymore. However, they insisted that believing in Jesus was against their animist traditions and customs. They told me, ‘Your God is very strong, and our animism is weak.’”

Ling*, China

“After some years, everything changed dramatically … our whole family came to Christ! It was a living fulfilment of Acts 16:31: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.”

Kanya*, Laos

“If we face trouble or problems, we must lean on God. Sometimes, it is His plan or He wants to teach us. It is a way to train us to grow stronger. Through trials, we understand God more. We must be patient. God will not abandon us. If we want to serve Him, He knows our hearts.”

Stand with the Underground Church Today

These testimonies reflect God’s faithfulness at work in the underground Church. But behind them is a daily reality of pressure, hardship, and the threat of exposure.

While their faith remains strong, the risks and suffering it brings are real and ongoing. They need our prayers and support.
