Bring change for women this International Women’s Month

Yesterday, 8 March, was International Women’s Day. The month of March is Women’s History Month, which highlights the contributions of women to events in history and society.

We celebrate with these women while remembering our persecuted sisters in Christ. Millions of Christian women and girls – usually already at a disadvantage in their society simply for being female are especially vulnerable to persecution. Sadly, their suffering is often invisible or ignored by those around them.

These women are making contributions to the Kingdom of God through their perseverance amid persecution for their faith in Jesus. Some have even lost their lives for the sake of the Gospel.

Chu* was beaten by her husband with a stick because of her faith. She was forced to leave her village. Thankfully, through the support of Open Doors partners, she was assisted with food relief and finances, especially during the pandemic. “The support you brought me really helped during those difficult times,” says Chu.

Bring change for women vulnerable to persecution and exploitation by providing them with your Gift of Hope to meet their needs, help them better themselves, and become leaders in their communities.

R250 could support one woman spiritually and economically through a self-help group.

R500 could give one woman the opportunity to attend a Women’s Leadership Seminar.

R1 095 could support a programme to meet one woman’s spiritual, social and physical needs.
