Speak words of courage into young Florence’s life

Florence (13) was just 10-years-old when she was raped by a Muslim Fulani Herdsman.

“I was sleeping in the room with my grandmother when he came and raped me. Honestly speaking, from that time, I have cried a lot and I couldn’t find anything that made me happy. I refused to eat, and I lost weight. People asked, ‘What is wrong with you?’ and I just told them, ‘Nothing.’”

But then I came for the [trauma] programme. After the first two days I started feeling happy and I felt as if everything was going away gradually. And when I went back home, a lot of people started asking, ‘Florence is gaining weight, what is happening?’ I would say, ‘Nothing is happening, it’s just that I have peace of mind.’”

“I painted tears in my self-portrait because while I was drawing, I thought about everything that happened to me. But after I finished drawing I totally forgot about the whole thing (for a while).”

Write words of strength and courage to Florence. Pray that God will give her peace as she is still filled with fear when she hears the ‘mooing’ of the cows of the Fulani herdsmen.
