Description

The Shalom Centre, Open Doors’ long-awaited trauma center in Nigeria, is a place of peace and healing for victims of violence and persecution.

A recent ‘Clinic for Survivors’ at the centre brought together 15 men and women who’d been forced out of their homes by militants, and provided individual and group trauma counselling. When they left with healed hearts, they kept saying, “How we wish we could stay here longer!”

One participant, whose little daughter had been hacked to death in his presence, shared: “I have been feeling numb since then. I have not been able to grieve and process my pains. During the programme, I broke down and cried for the first time. That night I slept well without any bad dreams for the first time.”

Your Gift of Hope will provide trauma counselling for victims of violence, helping them experience spiritual, emotional and psychological healing.
