Dear Friend of the persecuted Church,

When one builds a wall with bricks, the gaps need to be filled with mortar. Without the mortar, the wall would collapse. In our spiritual life, there are many gaps that need to be filled to fortify us against the attacks of our enemy, Satan. In Ezekiel 22:30 we read about exactly this… standing in the gap. It reads, “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land….”

Jesus came to stand in the gap between heaven and earth, God and man, life and death. And we are called to do the same.

So today, we ask you to stand in the gap on behalf of our persecuted brothers and sisters. As we think of our heritage not only as South Africans but also as Christians, let’s stand in the gap for Christians in the Middle East. Sign the One Million Voices of Hope petition to ensure that the Christian heritage and witness are preserved in the birthplace of Christianity, 2 000 years on.  Together, let’s ensure Christians have a place in their homelands.

Also, as Open Doors prepares to present these signatures and the plight of our brothers and sisters in the Middle East to the UN this December, intercede for us. Pray that God will be with our team and that He will be their voice as they speak on behalf of our persecuted family.

Thank you for being a gap-filler on behalf of our persecuted brothers and sisters!

Together in His service,

Jan Gouws
