‘Aroona’ left school when she was six. She looked after her family while her mother worked as a cleaner. When she was 16, a programme run by Open Doors partners taught her to read and write. “The day I learned to read was the best day of my life,” she says. Literacy programmes are one way in which Open Doors partners are helping persecuted women in Pakistan gain access to God’s Word, as well as dignity and independence.
