PakistanFlood_header2.jpgExactly one year after the attack on Gojra’s Christians, Pakistan is facing unprecedented disaster with the floods in the North of the country, in the Punjab and in Sindh. With many people having lost their homes the safest place for them to congregate and receive urgently needed supplies is the local mosque and the surrounding area. These are also extremist strongholds where Christians could become most vulnerable.

Christians are the most vulnerable and exposed at this time. It is Ramadan. We are concerned that Christians will become sidelined in distribution and relief efforts.

It is to avoid this neglect that we are responding to the crisis by providing immediate assistance. Christians in these areas have always felt insignificant and vulnerable, with many seeking opportunities to leave. The flood could add to the despair that already affects these communities. The Taliban strongholds that surround these regions will influence mass attitudes toward Pakistani Christians. And at times like this it makes it extremely hard for Christians to survive.

Please pray and support our efforts in the flood-affected regions – especially the three sets of relief centres from where we can provide medical assistance. Together we must combat air and water borne diseases which spread in the aftermath, as well as injuries received during the flood and displacement.

Help us to strengthen our Christian brothers by standing by them in their hour of need. Pray that they may not flee and leave the region, or be engulfed in more despair.

Prayer Points:

  • Pray that clean drinking water, food, shelter and medicine will get to the affected areas as soon as possible.
  • Pray that Pakistani Christians will reach out to their neighbours in love in the affected areas.
  • Pray that peace will come to Pakistan, which is in the midst of unrest and widespread violence.
  • Pray that Christians will be granted freedom in worship without violence or harassment.
  • Pray that the persecutors of Christians will be brought to justice.

Psalm 42: 1 and 2 “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? “

To many of us, this may be a familiar verse and a song we often sing. However, to many believers in the Muslim World, this is the very longing of their hearts. In response to their cry, Open Doors is reaching millions with the nourishing Word of God through radio and the internet. And this is indeed becoming their companion and friend in faith...

The need and request of convert listeners and other listeners in the Arab World, caused us to use other media instruments, like the radio and internet, to infiltrate the airwaves of a predominantly Muslim World, with the love of God.

Because many believers do not have the opportunity to go to a church or to be discipled through fellowship, they experience great difficulty in their spiritual growth.

Read some testimonies of believers who listen to our broadcasts and make use of this method of discipleship:

“I’ve been listening to Arabic radio broadcasts for years now. I’m from a non-Christian background and got to know the reality of Jesus Christ through your programs.

After years of knowing Him, I feel I need to know more and grow in my Christianity. How can I do that? Is there a chance for me to be taught, knowing that it is difficult for me to go to a church?”

“I felt like a dried stem until I started listening to your program. The training is helping me grow and nourishes my faith. I pray that I would also bear fruit for the Kingdom of  the Lord. Be blessed.”
Believer from Morocco

“I would like to thank you for standing by my side. I tried to find a church in my Islamic country so I could have fellowship with brothers that would help me in my new faith in Christ. But I travelled to other cities  and couldn’t find any. Your discipleship program is my church now. Thank you very much and please continue to pray for me.”

Celebrate the goodness of our God with our persecuted brothers and sisters as they say “Thank you” to you, our faithful supporters!

“God never lets us down. Thank you too, Open Doors. We pray God’s blessings for you all. These bicycles and Bibles are a very big blessing to the churches and Body of Christ in Zanzibar.

Our hearts are encouraged when we experience such generosity from friends and supporters. We usually think we are all alone here in Zanzibar. There are some churches that have friends in other countries, but most of us, once we come to minister in Zanzibar, have no supporters.

Open Doors understands our struggles with the Muslims and are really strengthening us with the gift of Bibles and bicycles.”
- Mkaume Akili

“Thank you very much for your friendship to us. There is such a need for Bibles and we as rural church leaders, do not know how to get Bibles. Our areas are impoverished and many people cannot afford to buy Bibles.

We will use these Children’s Bibles on a rotational basis. A child will be allowed to take the Children’s Bible home, to read it for a week and then return it the following Sunday. Another child then has the opportunity to read the Children’s Bible for the next week. These children are our inheritance from God and are the Church of the future. They need the Word of God. Thank you, Open Doors. Praise God! ”
- Alex Angoli

“All praise to our King and Lord for sending Open Doors to be our friends. God is always good and never forgets us. He is good in both bad and good times. Thank you for your kindness.

We are very glad. We are amazed how you work. Even if we as churches only get a few Bibles, it is still a blessing, because every one of the churches sees that we are all getting something. This builds unity. It is better to give a few Bibles to many churches, than giving many Bibles to only a few churches.

Please thank your team and supporters on behalf of us. We love and appreciate you. All glory to our Lord and Saviour!”
- Samson Mwalewa

“Wow, we are so happy and very encouraged. We kept telling our children that one day we will receive some Children’s Bibles. Today is that day! All glory to our King for using Open Doors to become our friends!

We as Sunday school teachers sometimes feel that our churches neglect the children. Whenever we receive some gifts from the Lord through people who give with a good heart, all the gifts are normally for adults and not for children.

You from Open Doors, have shown us that you really care for the children too. This is wonderful and you are helping us lay a foundation in the lives of these children.”
- Florence Adakuru

“I am very happy about these gifts. I had such a need for a bicycle and now I have it. The bicycle and the Bibles are very special.

Our Lord is good to us and we thank Open Doors. We don’t have many members in our churches and the villagers are poor. I don’t have money to travel around by public transport and used to walk many kilometres each week. This bicycle will even show the Muslims that the Church is being blessed and that we, Christians, also have friends from outside.

These Bibles encourage our members to see that God is true to His Word and that He is our great Father and Provider.

God bless Open Doors and Open Doors’ friends who are our friends too.”
