While the constitution guarantees religious freedom, the Islamic majority are favoured by the government. The atmosphere is becoming more tense in the run-up to government elections in 2009. Radical Muslims continue to bring pressure on Christians, inciting violence and exploiting the law. In 2007 alone, 25 churches were attacked or demolished. Muslim-background believers have been intimidated by their families and some have received death threats.

Praise God for the testimony of the three Sunday School teachers released last year. Pray for them as they resume life with their families and neighbors.

Pray that the new laws regulating religious activity would not result in more Christians going to prison.

Pray for church leaders and young people to be equipped to stand strong under persecution.

The son of a top Hamas leader has converted to Christianity and prays some day his family will also accept Jesus Christ as their savior, according to an Israeli newspaper.

Mosab Hassan Yousef, son of West Bank Hamas leader Sheik Hassan Yousef, revealed for the first time in an exclusive interview with Haaretz newspaper that he has left Islam and is now a Christian.
